Dora Not the First to Show Age Adjusted Characters

image_thumb.pngAn earlier blog post was written about a new animated series that depicted Dora as an older girl. The animated series is scheduled to start airing this fall 2014 on Nickelodeon. The addition of new series that includes an aged character is not new. Updated shows like these are part of animated and non-animated programs.

Those that remember that remember the ABC sitcom “Boy Meets World”, might be a happy to know that there is a new series in the works called “Girl Meets World.” The new series will be airing on the Disney Channel and will feature some of the original cast members.

Nickelodeon has also aged the original characters from the animated series “Rugrats” when the little babies in the show were aged to middle schoolers in “All Grown Up!” The sequel ran for 5 seasons, while the original ran for 9 seasons.

Throughout television history, viewers have wondered what would become of their favorite characters as they became older. There are different sequels that have tried to answer that question. Some have been better received than others.

As “Dora and Friends:Into the City” premieres, many eyes will be watching to see if it has the same staying power as its predecessor, “Dora the Explorer.”

A few years ago Nickelodeon introduced the Dora’s Explorer Girls to the public. These group of girls include an older Dora the Explorer and her group of friends. As a pre-teen Dora now goes on adventures with her friends. These friends could interact in online games that could be connected to with Dora Links Dolls. Each Dora’s Explorer girl had a links doll that could connect to the computer through a USB.

Now, years later, a new primetime movie of the Dora’s Explorer Girls premiers on Nick Jr. this weekend. Fans will get to see the older Dora in action. The movie airs Sunday, August 7th at 8pm.

Looking dapper as always, SpongeBob stands at 62-feet high, 38-feet wide and 28-feet long.

Samuri Power Rangers

The most successful kids’ action series returns with a bang when the Samurai Power Rangers descend upon the streets of New York. Former Dora Voice Actor Sues Nickelodeon

Caitlin Sanchez, the most recent voice of Dora the Explorer, is now suing nickelodeon.   According to the lawsuit she claims that she was entered into an unfair contract with Nickelodeon.  Caitlin was the voice of Dora since 2008, but was let go recently when her voice matured and did not have the young-child sound.    Caitlin was the second person to do the Voice of Dora, before that it was voiced by Kathleen Herles

According to the New York Daily News:

The suit charges Caitlin and her parents were pressured by Nickelodeon and her own agent – Jason Bercy of the Cunningham Escott Slevin Doherty Talent Agency – into signing a 14-page contract without the aid of a lawyer.

Bercy, who is not named as a defendant in the suit, gave the Sanchez family 22 minutes to review the contract, threatening that if they didn’t sign Nickelodeon would “pass on Caitlin for the part of Dora,” the suit claims.
