This year, the Diamond Jubilee year, marked the 60th anniversary of the Queen Elizabeth II of England ascending to the throne. Many things have been done to mark the event, like concerts and celebrity performances. Before the year comes to a close a Winnie the Pooh tree planting ceremony was conducted to mark the Diamond Jubilee year. The event was attended by members of the Aldenham Country Park Trust. Winnie the Pooh fans may already know the Aldenham Country Park, located in Hertfordshire, England, already includes a touch of Pooh. There is a location in the park called the “100 Aker Wood” that features different areas that are made to look like objects and homes that are in the Winnie the Pooh stories.
Just in time for the Olympics, there is a new Dora the Explorer gymnastics video being released this month. “Dora’s Fantastic Gymnastics Adventure” has Dora going on an adventure as she goes with Boots to recover gymnastics’ ribbon the Swiper the Fox swiped from her. During her recovery trip she does different gymnastics moves that will be familiar to your little one if they take gymnastics class.
This year’s Summer Olympics is happening this August in London,England. Watching the Olympics each year is inspiring to adults and children. One sport that seems to always draw us in is the gymnastics events. The “Dora’s Fantastic Gymnastic ” fits well in line with the huge interest in gymnastics that will be created by the beauty of this year’s gymnastics events.
Since 1984 people have gathered to play the game Pooh Sticks. This year’s event was completed successfully; last year the competition had to be canceled due to high water levels. The event was able to raise a couple thousand dollars for a local charity. According to the BBC contestants came from New Zealand, Germany and the Netherlands to participate in the Oxfordshire, England game of Pooh Sticks.

Every year a Pooh Sticks contest is held in Oxfordshire, England. The annual Pooh Sticks contest has been played since 1984. There have been a few times when the event had to be canceled: In 1991 because of an outbreak of foot and mouth design, and 2010 because of high waters on the River Thames. Pleasure Beach, Blackpool in is a 114 year-old amusement park located in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. Families have been enjoying attractions on 42-acre amusement park for generations as it grown from just having a few railway rides to large roller coasters and huge attractions. Now the park is adding more attractions that children will be familiar with from today’s pop culture. Nickelodeon Land will be opened at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool in 2011 with several different themed rides and attractions from some of Nickelodeon UK‘s popular shows. Of course Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants will be two to the featured shows and characters at Nickelodeon Land. Other popular shows that will be part of the Nickelodeon Land will be The Fairly Odd Parents and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
