Rabbit: An inspiration for the Home Gardener

GardenPeppersBefore having a garden in the backyard was a la mode, Rabbit was doing and doing big. It you watch episodes or movies of Winnie the Pooh, you will notice that Rabbit has rows of vegetables planted in his yard. Granted being in a 100 Hundred Acre Wood does afford the space to go all out with the planting, there are some elements that others can take and implement in their own spaces.

If you have a yard, you can select a sunny portion to use for your garden. Some choose to begin by planting the seeds. You can also start with small little seedlings. Both of these can be purchased at your local plant nursery or garden center. You may also want to do it the old fashion way and use seed from the fruits or vegetables that you have consumed.

Those living in small area can also plant some small vegetables in pots. They can be hanging pots or pots that you can place on the porch of patio.

Some individuals have also brought their outside garden from to the outside to the inside. The inside garden can include some small potted herbs or tomatoes. Not only does these small plants add to the meals that you make, but the aromas that they release into the house can be wonderful.

Maybe you won’t be growing cartloads of carrots like Rabbit, but you can have you own garden space that can fit any size space.

Animation waits for no man and Disney is releasing a new computer animated movie next year entitled “Frozen.”     The movie will by Peter Del Vecho, the producer of “Winnie the Pooh” and the Princess and the Frog.”       Frozen is an animated epic adventure and comedy.

In Frozen, a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (voice of Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (voice of Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

Brother Bears : Winnie the Pooh and Kung Fu Panda Po

Winnie the Pooh and Kung Fu Panda’s are brothers from another mother.    Over the years there have been several different fun and loveable that have developed a huge fan base.  Winnie the Pooh and Po are two such Pop culture icons and share lot of commonalities.

First they both have a childlike naivety about them.  Longtime Winnie the Pooh fans are familiar with how Winnie the Pooh’s innocent personality has gotten him in some tight squeezes, especially when it comes to getting honey.   Po may have a bit higher maturity, but he still has a youthful innocence about him to also get him into just as much trouble.

Both bears love to eat.     If you know anything about these to bears that the preceding statement hardly requires any explanation.    Pooh’s food of choice is honey while Po seems to want to consume about everything in his path, but his favorites seems to be sticky been pies.   But either way they love to eat and given the chance they will eat until there is nothing left to consume.

Another trait that both possess is loyalty.   Winnie the Pooh is always there for his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood.   If Piglet , Eeyore, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo, Tigger, or one of his other friends need him he is always there to help.       Being the Kung Fu Panda really helps when a friend needs assistance, but Po has a natural loyalty that would still be there even if he did not have any martial arts skills.

Each of these characters has their own guru or personal adviser.  It is obvious that Po has Master Shifoo to help him and guide him.       Pooh’s advisor is not as obvious and he is not as straightforward as Shifoo, but he is always there to be a friend.  Christopher Robin, although a child himself, has always been there to give Winnie the Pooh the advice that he needs.

Pooh and Po , by first appearances may appear to be complete opposite, but if you just take a look at them you will see  that they are more alike than different and   could be brothers from another mother.

An Americanized Winnie the Pooh Drawing Criticism

Winnie the Pooh stories originated on British soil.  Disney, an American based company, bought the rights to Pooh and has since created several different movies, television shows, and books `based on the original Winnie the Pooh.   Winnie the Pooh books, according to some critics, has now had too much “Americanism”.   The original work, as some see it, should reflect the same dialect and wording of the original writing by author A.A. Milne.    Book publishers of the new Winnie the Pooh say that they are trying to appeal to a wider audience.    The question does remain to be asked if audiences across the globe and those in the United States like the “Americanism” of Winnie the Pooh.  Original fans of Pooh fell in love with the original Pooh.   Will these fans also embrace a more modern Winnie the Pooh?   That is a question that Disney and all those behind Winnie the Pooh have to be asking themselves as they create new products.
